Getting Promoted, Expectations vs Reality

I think getting promoted is a really exciting thing in one’s career. I was just recently promoted to assistant manager and found that life on this side on one hand is pretty glamourous, on the other hand tiresome.

I have been contemplating of leaving for another role since I got promoted, I had expected that life as a middle management would be overseeing larger projects, getting involve in things I would never have as a executive. However boy was I wrong, i was thrown heaps of paper work, firefighting everyday from dealing with my managers orders to making sure my team is well on track with the projects and also team morale. I’ve been in leadership roles in the past and find it hard to believe that the world outside of my executive bubble would be so different.

Have anyone experience such a thing and what did you do to overcome it?

Really much appreciated.
