Getting Promoted

Getting promoted for some takes years, but because my company is so small. A sudden resignation from my manager puts me in the spot to become the manager, and I have only been here a year. I’m not quite sure if i’m ready to take on this challenge.

Any advice?

I’ve been there, at the end of the day, you just need to ask yourself one question. “Am I ready?” Fake it till you make it is sometimes a flip of the coin advice. Sometimes it works, sometimes it doesn’t.

If you are ready to take on the mantle, just take it, no matter how long you have been with the company as opportunities like this don’t come by everyday.

I’ve been in your position, ultimately you need to decide what is it you want to achieve in this company. Getting asked to be a manager within such a short period of time could mean a few things, you are really good at what you do, or they are just short of staff and can’t find anyone else.

Either way, make sure you are well commensurate for the additional responsibilities.
